Make a Quality Impression Every Time

Total Product Integrity

Silliker can help you protect the integrity of your brand and make a quality impression that will keep customers coming back for more. Jodene Jurgens, Ph.D., Silliker, Inc. Iowa Laboratory Director

Your reputation is built into every product and reflected on your label. If your product has quality defects, allergenic ingredients, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that are not stated on your label, you can alienate clients, lose consumers, or face regulatory intervention in your country or in international markets.

We offer a total program approach to help you meet product specifications, verify quality, and protect the integrity of your brand. Our services include physical and extraneous matter testing, allergen testing for milk, eggs, and peanuts, "real-time" PCR for the analysis of GMOs, and audits to assess the origin of allergens and GMOs in your or your supplier's facilities. If you need to verify the origin of your meat and document the supply chain, Silliker offers the DNA Traceback™ system. Leading retailers in Europe are using this to maintain consumer confidence.

At Silliker, we're committed to providing you with unmatched technical expertise to help you meet market and regulatory mandates. Contact us to learn more about how we can help you protect the integrity of your brand.

Physical Testing
Quality is not negotiable when it comes to meeting the demands of suppliers and customers. Defects in raw ingredients and finished products can lead to wasted goods, affect supplier relationships, and alienate customers. Our skilled technicians can help you reduce product defects and protect your brand by providing you with an independent verification of your own or supplier's product.

Silliker works with the world's leading food service chains and retailers to measure every possible aspect of quality: color, viscosity, melt, shape or product grading. From big name brands to private labels, we've evaluated more than 5,000 different food products. Pickles to pastry crust - we've seen it all. We also evaluate food packaging, cosmetic and home products.

As part of our total program approach, we can help you develop a vendor certification program, train employees on GMPs, and more. Contact us for a free consultation about your physical product certification program.

Traceback
Traceability of beef, crucial to restoring consumer confidence, is now required by EU law. Molecular biology is the only way to irrefutably guarantee control over traceability from the stable to the table. Dr. Ulrich Singer, Silliker, Inc. Meat Specialist Europe

Silliker offers TraceBack™, a comprehensive approach to controlling the quality of your meat. The most widely used tracking systems stop simply at paper-based control (farm, abattoir registers) instead of actually inspecting the livestock or meat products themselves. Silliker has added TraceBack™ (1), a DNA-testing method that has already largely proved its worth in Europe, to its molecular biology laboratory dedicated to controlling and tracking beef.

THE TRACEBACK™* SYSTEM -- Reference samples are systematically collected from on-farm animals or carcasses in the abattoir. A DNA analysis is then conducted on a verification sample collected in retail outlets and its associated reference sample to prove that they match, i.e. that they come from the same animal.

Silliker technical experts around the world are at your disposal to address the quality assurance concerns of the entire meat industry, from cattle rearing and slaughtering to the cutting, processing and distribution of meat products.

Silliker offers a tailored approach:

  • preliminary evaluation of your conventional tracking system,

  • devising of a sampling plan,

  • training of staff assigned to collect reference samples,

  • collection of verification samples in retail outlets,

  • creation of a database containing every sample collected,

  • DNA analysis and matching of verification samples and reference samples logged in the database,

  • report on the effectiveness of the conventional method used to trace meat back to the individual animal.

Silliker combines its experience in this cutting-edge analysis technique with a spectrum of services that encompasses everything from logistics to consultancy to help you to trace your meat products from the farm to the fork. To discuss your verification needs in Europe, contact us.
