SILLIKER Position Descriptions
Administrative Positions: Administrative personnel provide support to the various areas of the laboratory. Individuals interested in clerical support or administrative management must possess excellent computer, organizational and advanced communication skills. Positions include couriers, clerical staff, maintenance, and lab assistants. Necessary backgrounds are dependent on the position.
Chemistry Positions:
Nutritional labeling and chemical analysis are and important part of our service to clients. Our chemists offer comprehensive testing capabilities and are committed to providing the highest level of accuracy and service. We employ individuals with general Chemistry, Food Science or related science degree in various technical positions ranging from Technicians to Management. Instrumentation experience including HPLC, GC, AA and others is necessary for some of our chemical analyst positions.
Corporate Headquarters:
Silliker Laboratories is headquartered in Homewood, Illinois. The corporate departments of Accounting, Human Resources and Organizational Development, Marketing, Information Technology and Administration are located here. Positions range from clerical support to President. Necessary backgrounds are dependent on the position.
Customer Service Positions: This department offers "front-line" service to our clients. Individuals with technical knowledge and an interest in customer service are optimal candidates. Positions range from data entry to management of the department. Sales positions require the technical knowledge and the customer service aptitude. Other department requirements vary according to the position.
Laboratory Operations: Silliker laboratories provide a skilled management team to support the operations of our laboratory network. These positions provide opportunities for individuals with management experience in food testing. Advanced technical knowledge of food science and management/supervisory experience is required.
Microbiology Positions: Food Microbiology is one of the key areas of Silliker Laboratories. We employ individuals with general Biology, Food Science or Microbiology degree in various technical positions ranging from Technicians to Senior Management. Many of our locations allow the flexible scheduling necessary to work and pursue a degree. Requirements vary dependent on the position but food-testing experience is preferred.
Technical Services:
Silliker tries to provide a full solution to our client's problems. The solution often involves the assistance of our Technical Services group. This area can provide services such as on site advise to client issues, auditing of vendors, education of plant personnel and others. Technical knowledge is key to individuals interested in this area. Many of these positions require a combination of food plant and technical expertise.
